Microsoft has released the Update Rollup 7 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3 (KB2655203). Both 32bit and 64bit versions are now available to download at the Microsoft Download Center. You may see the details of fixes in this Rollup by reading the below MS KB article,

Description of Update Rollup 7 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3

When you try to run the rollup, you may see the warning about certificate revocation list, this is because Exchange tries to connect to the certificate revocation list (CRL) that has been issued by the publisher of the update rollup package or of the service pack. please adjust the IE settings to workaround the warning shown before you proceed with the roll up installation.

1. Go to Advance tab of IE options and locate Security section
2. clear the Check for publisher’s certificate revocation check box, and then click OK

You should revert the IE changes once you have finished with the installation of the rollup.

Also ensure that you disable the Forefront Protection for Exchange before the starting the installation and enable it back after the successful installation to avoid any potential issues.

According to MS, this rollup is going to be the final release under the standard support for Exchange 2007, see the statement from official Exchange team blog statement.

Support lifecycle statement: This is the final release under standard support for Exchange 2007, as the Exchange 2007 Mainstream Support has now ended. Extended Support for Exchange 2007 SP3 will end on 4/11/2017. Please see the Microsoft Support Lifecycle page for more information about Microsoft Support Lifecycle for Exchange 2007. Got questions about Microsoft Support Lifecycle Policy? Head over to Microsoft Support Lifecycle Policy FAQ.

you will see a successful event after the clean upgrade of the product,

Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: Microsoft Exchange Server. Product Version: 8.3.83.6. Product Language: 1033. Reconfiguration success or error status: 0.

I did the upgrade on my LAB machine and the installation went so clean, and the services are running as expected.

Praveen- After installing Exchange 2007 SP3 (Windows Server 2008) we can see the version as 8.3.83.6 in the ESM. However, after installing Exchange 2007 SP3 Roll-Up 7, the Application Event logs show version 8.3.264.0 was successful under MSInstaller. However, the next event shows "Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: Microsoft Exchange Server. Product Version: 8.3.83.6. Product Language: 1033. Reconfiguration success or error status: 0" which is what you got in your lab shown above. Is this normal? Is there a bug in that it doesn't show 8.3.264? We didn't see any reference in your article if this was expected behavior. Thanks.

Hi Frank,
You may verify the success of installation procedure in many areas,
1. Looks at the Add/Remove programs(Progra ms and Features in 2008), show updates
2. Look at the Exchange Setup logs (UpdateOwa.log)
3. Look at the EMC -> Help -> Exchange version.
Basically if the installation is fine and it is showing up in Add/Remove programs (in 2008 Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Programs and Features) it is fine :-) .
